I have tentatively attributed these tongs to John Bolland, but this is by no means certain.  They are very Irish in style, with a lovely engraved “chalice” towards the tops of the arms.  The maker’s mark is a little faded but is discernable as “IB” in an oval, or almost circular, punch.  I have dated them between 1787 and 1793.
