This pair of tongs is a lovely pair of flared bright cut tongs with a deep cut leaf pattern engraved in the bowls. Unusually for Newcastle tongs, they are marked in the bowls. They are just 5 inches long and have a concave bow. From the quality of the engraving, these tongs are equally as well made as any London work of the time. They are dated at c1780.
