This pair of tongs is bright cut over the whole length of the arms, but not in the bowls. Notice the characteristic trailing flower with a bud motif. There is also very clear fractures where the hallmarks and maker's marks are punched. As is common with Newcastle work it is very difficult to be precise about dates. These tongs will be dated any time between 1804 and 1814 when she was active.
