John Jobson is an interesting character. He registered this mark in 1771 and is known to have sent work for assay using this mark between 6th August 1773 and 17th June 1776. John Jobson worked with James Hetherington between 22nd January 1771 and 13th July 1773. He is recorded as having "shut up shop" on 5th July 1776. . Going by these dates he started working on his own after splitting up with James Hetherington. He had a 2 week partnership with John Stodart in May 1775. In late 1776 he was compelled to sell everything off to settle his debts.
