Alexander Zeigler registered his first mark in 1782.  Jackson records work of his up to as late as 1823, which is a very long career.  His are the most commonly seen of the Edinburgh sugar tong makers.  The Zeigler name is well known and there were several Zeiglers recorded.  There was another Alexander in 1774, George in 1795, William in 1797 and John in 1798.  There was also Michael & George Zeigler recorded at Canongate.
