Francis Howden’s first mention is in 1781.  James Howden is recorded in 1784 and Francis & James together are recorded in 1788.  We then see James & W Howden recorded in 1809 followed by JW Howden & Co. in 1814.  This pair of tongs is a lovely flared bright cut pair, with a slightly concave bow, dated c1790.
