Antique Georgian silver sugar tongs

Thomas Eustace was perhaps the most well known and famous of all the Exeter silver-smiths.  His work is superb by any standards.  He is first recorded in 1773 and worked through to 1789.  This pair of tongs is magnificent.  They have lovely sharp bright cut engraving and a unique style, with cut in shoulders and beautifully shaped acorn bowls.  They have no monogram and are marked with just the lion passant and maker’s mark, dating them some time before 1784.
