To see antique Georgian silver sugar tongs made by particular makers, click on the appropriate letter for the first part of the maker's mark. From there you should be able to identify the maker from the smaller list presented. The list of maker's names presented here will only cover the period from about 1770 to 1820. In many cases it can be hard to identify a particular maker, especially where they use common initials. Attributing a pair of tongs to a particular maker can often be difficult in these circumstances. It can also be very difficult if the maker's name is partly worn out. This is not unusual when we are examining an article that is 200 or more years old. I have tried to show some good pictures of maker's marks with any tongs featured. This may help if you have a pair of tongs where you cannot identify the maker. It is actually not essential to be able to identify the maker. These sugar tongs can be appreciated for their beauty alone.
