This is a rare maker of sugar tongs. There is no record of Alexander Barnet’s apprenticeship and he only registered one mark, as a small-worker on 8th August 1759. He does appear in the Parliamentary report of 1773, but without category. These tongs are lovely cast tongs with shell bowls with scrolls. The bow has a bright cut edge to it. They are probably dated c1770 – 1775.
