These are a pair of plain flared tongs. Hester Bateman did not make very many plain tongs, most of her tongs are bright cut. This pair is also unusual in that they have circular bowls. They are the only pair of plain tongs that I have seen with circular bowls. The edges of the arms are not bevelled, usually with the plain tongs they are. They also have an interesting monogram, being H on one arm and M on the other.
