These tongs were made in three parts, the two arms being soldered onto the bow. They have a delightful monogram "A" on the bow which will probably have been engraved at the time of producing the tongs. They also have a lovely serated edge to the arms. Because of their style I would estimate these tongs to be dated around 1780, possibly even a little earlier.
