John Kohler I has just one mark registered, as a small-worker on 1^st March 1790.  This pair of tongs cannot be certain to be John Kohler I, especially as there is a definite pellet between the I and the K, however there are no other makers registered at around this time with any similar mark except John Kidder.  John Kidder was a plate-worker.  These sugar tongs are dated 1796 and are bright cut with a very elaborate engraved monogram.
