Peter & Jonathan Bateman were only working from 7th December 1790 to 19th April 1791.  This is because Jonathan died of cancer.  This means that they were only producing silver for 4½ months.  They entered one mark on 7th December 1790 and then entered 6 more marks on 9th December.  Peter & Jonathan Bateman silver is  very rare, and very sought after.  Peter & Jonathan were Hester's sons.  Ann was Jonathan's wife.  The two pairs of silver sugar tongs we see here are interesting in that they are both fairly standard Bateman style, one being plain thread edged and the other bright cut, flared style.
