These tongs are a pair of solid cast tongs. They have the half moon shell bowls, with a small circular piece just above the bowls. Despite them being solid rather than open work, they still have a repair, as is common with most cast tongs. What make these tongs interesting is that they are marked with the earlier maker's mark, probably one registered in 1755 or 1758. This will certainly mean they were made before 1767 when the script maker's mark was registered.
