These are lovely flared, bright cut tongs with a monogram.  They have a nice wriggle-work, zig-zag pattern on the bowls.  They are dated 1808/09.  One very unusual feature about these tongs is the hallmark.  By rights the duty mark should be to the left of the Lion Passant and Date Letter.  This is a definite mistake that occurred in the hallmarking of these tongs.
