These are a pair of cast tongs. The two arms have been soldered onto the bow. They have scalloped half moon shell bowls and a betrothal or marriage monogram in a lovely cartouche with scrolls around it. The maker's mark is struck on the joint between the arms and the bow as is normal for these style tongs. The hallmark is similarly struck but they appear to have had two attempts at it. I have dated these tongs at c1765 but they may be a little later.
