William Turton appeared in the parliamentary report of 1773 so must have had a mark entered in the missing register. His first known mark was entered on 4th October 1773, as a small-worker. He entered other marks after that. He entered a mark in partnership with William Walbancke on 8th April 1784, so William Turton tongs will all be dated before then. He is also recorded with marks on his own again after 6th March 1791.
