York was one of the provincial Assay Offices.  There are very few York makers and it is a very specialist area to focus on.  There are several collectors that specialise in York silver and it therefore fetches higher prices.  There are a few features to look out for with York work, in particular the "right-facing" Lion, a great find when you find one.
