Perth is one of the larger provincial towns and there were a large number of makers from Perth. The earliest known Perth silver dates from the 1680’s. For the period being considered here, the Perth town mark is the double-headed eagle. This was preceded by a mark of a lamb bearing the flag of St. Andrew. The double-headed eagle is often seen with only one head. Perth silver is dominated by Robert Keay, along with his nephew and his nephew’s son – all named Robert Keay!
