This pair of tongs is completely plain, which is very much the style of this period and the most common style for these makers. They are dated 1811/12. Notice the journey-man's mark. It is a feature of these makers that very often a journeyman's mark is seen. This is a different mark to the 1815 pair. These tongs have a lovely ornate monogram "MW"?
