Sarah & John William Blake registered their first mark together on 15^th June 1809 as spoon-makers and were working together up to 2^nd October 1823 when John William Blake registered his first mark alone. They were mother and son. The father, John Blake, had also been a silversmith and it is assumed that he died in 1809 when Sarah & John William entered their mark together. Almost all of their tongs are plain, which is in keeping with the times. All of their tongs have a journeyman’s mark, although the mark is not always the same. Some of their marks have a pellet between and some do not.
